Five minutes. One dirham. Deira to Bur Dubai or back. Still the most honest commute in the city. Open wooden hull, bench seating, a small engine, and more experience of the city than any taxi ride. The boats have been doing this crossing for at least a century; the price has not kept pace with inflation, and long may that continue.
