Sho akhbarak.
/sho akh-ba-rak/· phrase · Levantine Arabicgreeting
"What's your news? A casual 'how are you?'"

Levantine Arabic for 'how are you?' — literally 'what is your news?' (sho = what, akhbar = news, -ak = your, masculine; -ek for feminine). Widely spoken in Dubai because of the large Lebanese, Syrian, Jordanian, and Palestinian communities. Response: 'mniha' or 'tamam' (fine). You'll hear it at shops, in cafes, across communities. One of many ways the city's hundred languages converge on a single street corner.
