Ibn Battuta Mall.
· n. · English / Arabicplace
"The themed mall nobody expected to be this good. Six courts, six civilisations, one explorer."

Named after the 14th-century Moroccan explorer who spent 29 years travelling from Morocco to China and documented all of it. The mall takes his route seriously: six themed courts — Andalusia, Tunisia, Egypt, Persia, India, China — each architecturally distinct, each with ceilings worth stopping to look at.

The Persia Court dome is the standout: a hand-painted ceiling that would not be out of place in Isfahan. The China Court has a full-size Chinese junk suspended above the atrium. The India Court has an elephant.

It is not a luxury mall — it serves Discovery Gardens, JBR, and the residential west of the city. The tenants are practical. But the building is one of the more genuinely beautiful interiors in Dubai, which almost nobody mentions. Ibn Battuta covered 44 countries. The mall covers six. The proportions are off but the spirit is right.
