Dubai has over 30 free zones (DIFC, DAFZA, DMCC, Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City, and many more), each targeting specific sectors. Companies in a free zone can be 100% foreign-owned, pay no corporate tax (historically), and import/export goods duty-free. The trade-off: you can only do business within the free zone or internationally, not on the UAE mainland without a distributor.
