A 150-metre-tall, 93-metre-wide steel and glass frame straddling the line between Zabeel and Karama — old Dubai on one side, the modern skyline on the other. Opened 2018 after years of controversy involving accusations of concept theft that were never fully resolved.
The glass floor at the top is the photograph everyone takes. The framing of old versus new Dubai is either a heavy-handed metaphor or a genuinely good piece of urban storytelling, depending on your tolerance for architectural concepts. Both readings are correct.
